Extreme Networks’ Summit X450e is based on Extreme Networks very flexible, modular ExtremeXOS operating system with features designs to improve uptime, manageability and operational efficiency. The Summit X450e switch supports process recovery and application upgrades without the need for a system reboot. Summit X450e can provide the high network availability required for combined applications.

Summit X450e provides high availability and high performance with its sophisticated traffic management capabilities. These features enable the large scale rollout of combined a network that supports devices such as IP telephones, wireless APs and other devices that require power from a LAN connection. Summit X450e supports the 802.3af standards-based PoE on every port.

Summit X450e supports hardware-based routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 to help provide asset protection by allowing the rollout of IPv6 in the network in the present or in the future. Summit X450e switch is highly flexible and provides high-density gigabit plus optional 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a compact 1RU format, which supports a broad range of Layer 2 to Layer 4 functionalities on every port. It has optional power supplies which are provided with each switch to protect against power issues that enables a constantly operational network.
