Foundry’s IronPower power injector is very easy to use. Users easily attach the PoE devices, connect IronPower to the network switch, and turn it on. All connections are located on the front of the unit for fast and easy access. It has dual-colored LEDs for monitoring the operation of each port. Existing UPS systems and power conditioning systems can be used to provide continuous power to all PoE devices connected to the IronPower power injector.

The IronPower uses existing Ethernet standards to transmit data over Ethernet pairs 1/2 and 3/6 to provide the greatest compatibility to ensure reliable connectivity. Power is supplied through the unused Ethernet pairs 4/5 and 7/8 which conform to the 802.3af standards for midspan Power over Ethernet. IronPower also supports the normal operation of devices such as ordinary Network Interface Cards (NICs) that do not anticipate power on their Ethernet connections.
