The HP ProCurve Radio Port 220, works in conjunction with HP ProCurve Wireless Edge Services xl and zl modules to offers both IEEE 802.11a and 802.11g advanced wireless operation. Automatic device discovery and configuration is made possible by the utilizing Layer 2 radio port adoption, when connected to a Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled network port on the ProCurve Wireless Edge Services Module.

The HP ProCurve Radio Port 220 offers support for external diversity antennas that can be configured per radio. By utilizing Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and Transmit Power Control (TPC) the radio can adjust transmit power, and automatically select another channel to reduce interference from other systems using the same channel. Cell size can be controlled through the adjustable power output, for deployment in high-density installations.
