The HP ProCurve Radio Port 230 delivers a multi-service wireless LAN that is resilient, adaptive, and highly secure. Support for dual-band wireless clients is provided by the simultaneous IEEE 802.11a and 802.11g radio operation, as well as backward compatibility for IEEE 802.11b devices. Port-based authentication is handled by IEEE 802.1X, with support for Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), TLS, TTLS, PEAP, and SIM.

The HP ProCurve Radio Port 230 is compliant with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) IEEE 802.11h standards thanks to the use of Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and Transmit Power Control (TPC). This allows for automatic channel selection, and adjustment of transmit power to avoid interference with other systems. MAC address lockout can be configured to prevent specific MAC addresses from connecting to the network.
