The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 50 Enclosure provides industry leading storage density, availability, upgrageability, and data performance that helps to meet the demanding storage growth needs of today’s networks. Standard support for Small Form Factor(SFF) SAS or Serial ATA(SATA) drives is a key feature for this 1U Serial Attach SCSI(SAS) storage enclosure. A maximum of 10 drives can be added to a single enclosure with the ability to combine two enclosures with a single port controller for a total of 20 drives.

The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 50 makes expanding your network storate simple and cost effective by allowing the use of both SAS and SATA drives within the same enclosure. This also helps to reduce the amount of spare disk inventory, as the same drives can be used in servers as well as external storage. Total storage capacity varies based on the type and number of discs used. For example, up to5 TB SAS Midline (using 500 GB SAS MDL), or 2.5 TB SATA (using 250 GB SATA disk drives), or 3 TB SAS per enclosure (using 300 GB 3G 10K 2.5-inch SAS dual Port disk drives) .
