The HP ProCurve Switch 2500 Series is available in 12 and 24 Layer 2 managed port configurations. Support for a single trunk with up to four links (ports) is made possible through the use of IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) and ProCurve trunking. Redundant links and network loop prevention are provided by the Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1D).

Faster failed link recovery and increased network uptime are a result of using IEEE 802.1w Rapid Convergence Spanning Tree Protocol in the HP ProCurve Switch 2500 Series. Advanced monitoring capabilities, and statistics, history, alarms, and events reporting are enabled through the use of RMON and XRMON. GARP VLAN Registration Protocol provides automatic learning and dynamic assignment of VLANs.
