The HP ProCurve Switch 6108 provides low-cost, multi-layered management, in an 8-port stackable switch. Optional fiber connectivity is provided by 2 dual-personality ports that support either 10/100/1000 or mini-GBIC connectivity. Statistics, alarms, history, and event monitoring are handled by RMON. Automatic cable detection for crossover or straight-through cables is handled by Auto-MDIX.

Wire speed throughput and non-blocking architecture are provided by the included 16 Gbps backplane which is standard in the HP ProCurve Switch 6108. Included layer 2 switching provides support for GVRP, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, and up to 30 port-based VLANs. Secure Shell (SSHv2) provides encryption for all transmitted data, which enables secure remote access for server management.
