Nortel has two main network management systems. The first system is the Metro Ethernet Manager (MEM). The key features of the MEM include quick and efficient provision services. Customers can monitor, find and troubleshoot issues, as well as measure network performance. Customers can also view the network’s topology and backup and restore software. This is all done within a common security infrastructure.

The second Nortel network management system is the Optical Network Manager. It is designed to provide optimum network performance. It has simple, centralized network-wide tools to enable it’s users to troubleshoot, activate and administer optical elements. The Optical Network Manager improves the speed of service delivery, while minimizing disruption to existing processes. It has advanced software, which allows service providers to forecast their equipment needs
