Nortel’s Optical Metro 3500 is a DWDM capable SONET platform. It can be scaled from OC-3 to OC-192. It offers DWDM with a wide variety of services, such as TDM, storage services, and Ethernet.

The Optical Metro 3500 provides a full non-blocking switching matrix that provides time-slot assignment, time-slot interchange, hairpinning, drop and continue, and broadcast capabilities across the entire bandwidth. It efficiently handles Ethernet services and service mapping. Additionally, it supports service modules that enable high density service termination. This is all accomplished without stacking multiple shelves, which reduces the cost of capital and operational expenses.
